A paper which discusses the lessons learnt from the investigation of recent train collision accidents in China and the common system design faults and safety limitations of many existing signalling systems which have been identified. The paper proposes the introduction of an innovative real-time train safety and collision prevention system (RTSCPS) to address the current safety risk associated with existing signalling systems.
