A paper which examines, compares and contrasts workers’ participation in health and safety in industries in Australia. Trends are examined by way of a case study which looks at the world of work in Australian railway infrastructure. The paper concludes by outlining a number of steps that could be pursued to improve workers’ participation under rail safety law.
