A paper which describes a wide range of uses for data collected during an investigation to identify causes of a rail accident. Areas covered include infrastructure, operational and equipment issues and human factors and organizational issues. Case studies are used to illustrate the results of various analyses performed on the data and conclusions are made, along with lessons learned.
