With the rapid development of high-speed railway, their safety, comfort and reliability has become the preferred choice for more and more passengers. Ensuring the operation and safety of large-scale train fleet has become one of the most important directions for innovation and sustainable development in high-speed railway industry. Firstly, the technology and application of prognostics and health management has been reviewed. Then, the innovation on safety and security for high speed trains is introduced based on PHM and Big Data technology. Finally, the future development on PHM for high speed trains is discussed.

The Express Rail Link (XRL) connects Hong Kong with over 20,000km of national High-speed Rail Network. The Hong Kong Section of the XRL is 26km in length, with trains operating at the maximum speed of 200kph in Hong Kong, linking West Kowloon to Shenzhen Boundary and Guangzhou. It provides a safe, fast and efficient travel between Hong Kong and the Mainland. This paper introduces the new Overhead Line (OHL) technologies, in terms of designing, construction, testing and commissioning. It highlights the latest developments and the challenges encountered to ensure the seamless interface with the National High-speed Rail Network.
